How to Create Custom Properties

The platform comes with over 100 standard contact and company properties for you to choose from. However we know that everyone’s database is different and has different needs so you can create an unlimited amount of custom properties to assign to your contact and company records, here’s how.

Creating Custom Properties

Navigate to the Properties tab in the contacts area to view all existing properties. To create a new custom property click on the New Property button on the top right of the screen.

Complete the following options to create your custom property:

  • Name – Give your property a relevant name.
  • Description – Give a description of the property, e.g. its purpose or additional details.
  • Section – Choose whether to assign it to contacts or company records.
  • Type – This is the format of the property, you can choose from the following:
    • Single line text – A basic text field.
    • Multi-line text – A more expansive text field for longer responses.
    • Checkboxes – Create a list of options to choose from. Please Note: You can select more than one option.
    • Radio select – A circular single select option that can have multiple options.
    • Dropdown select – A single select option that can have multiple options.
    • Single on/off checkbox – A single select option with two responses.
    • File upload – Accepted file include; CSV, PDF, JPEG, PNG.
    • Number field – A field that is restricted to numbers only.
    • Date / Time – Allows for a specific date to be entered, either manually or from a calendar.
    • Telephone – This field will accept numbers and special characters, such as – and ().
    • Date of Birth - Allows for a specific date to be entered, either manually or from a calendar.
    • Email – A field with email address validation.
    • URL – A field with website address validation.

 

  • Use in forms? – This allows your custom properties to be used in lead capture landing page forms and web magnet forms. For more info on this, check out our Lead Gen FAQ section.
  • Add to contact view? – This will allow the custom property to be displayed in the contact and company profile.

 

Property Options and Display

Once you have created your properties you can easily view and manage them, let’s explain the following headers.

Field Type – Displays the property type.

Use in Forms – Toggle whether each property can be used in forms.

Add to Profile – Toggle whether each property is visible in the contact/company profile.

Segmentable – Choose whether each property can be accessed in the segment tool.

Active – This will tell you if you have data each property.

Edit/Delete/Merge – This option will only be available for properties you have created.
